I am a Raleigh native who has lived in North Carolina my entire life. After completing my degree in Education at North Carolina State University, I taught high school for several years before returning to school to attain my MBA at East Carolina University. I worked over 20 years in corporate America in various sales positions before beginning my current profession as a health insurance broker who helps people find health insurance or Medicare plans that fit their needs and pocketbook.

Although the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has benefited the health insurance consumer in many respects, it has also added to the confusion. To stay abreast of these changes I am active in the National Association of Health Underwriters and our local chapter, Triangle Association of Health Underwriters (TAHU).

Wanda Stephens and other members of the TriangleLike many of my fellow members of TAHU, I participated in all of WRAL’s Affordable Care Act “Here to Help” phone banks. During these phone banks we received hundreds of calls from individuals in North Carolina who needed help applying for a government subsidized health plan.

As a firm believer in the importance of maintaining one’s health insurance even during a financial setback such as a job loss, I do presentations and provide support to local job seeker groups. My support to these groups includes providing them with information how the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a ObamaCare) and government subsidies might benefit them.

I operate my company out of a home office where I live with my husband, Ron Jungling. This arrangement allows me to be available to address my customers’ questions and concerns during the evenings and weekends as well as during regular working hours.
